Naa, ob's das duale Display so bringt, wage ich ja zu bezweifeln. Ich sehe das als Übergangsmodelle (auch das von B&N), bis die ersten eInk-Geräte mit Farbdisplay da sind. Und so lange geht auch noch Schwarzweiß.

Ich habe auf der Buchmesse mit einem der Entwickler vom txtr gesprochen und der Meinte sie erwarten die ersten eInk Farbdisplay nicht vor 2012. Im Moment gibt es anscheinend nur frühe Prototypen.

Potthässlich, das Ding. Da ist der B&N-Reader schon ein anderes Kaliber. Wenn der auch noch EPub und eReader unterstützt, werd ich da wohl dabei sein.

Obwohl... gerüchteweise soll der B&N-Reader ja ein OEM des Spring sein, da kann man nur hoffen dass das Design von B&N näher an das vor Wochenfrist kolportierte angelehnt ist!

Das alles wirkt wieder eher wie eine sehr starke Zersplitterung des Marktes nach ganz unterscheidlichen gemutmaßten Bedürfnissen der User bzw. nach dem Motto "Jetzt basteln wir mal alle möglichen Techniken die wir im Regal haben ein und versuchen die Leute dazu zu bringen, dass sie unsere Lösung gegenüber der Konkurrenz vorziehen."

Wenn ich das richtig sehe, sollen diese 2. Displays der genannten Geräte ja eine Ergänzung 1) als Steuereinheit und 2) als Minisurf- oder Downloadstation darstellen. Zu Letzterem ist dann auch wieder die Anbindung an irgendeine (oder mehrere) Form(-en) von Funkmodul(-en) nötig.

Damit zerschieße ich mir wieder einen der ursprünglichen Vorteile der reinen eInk-Geräte: Die Energiesparsamkeit.

Wenn sich die Funktionalität des 2. Displays auf das Downloaden von Textinhalten beschränken soll brauche ich es nicht.

Wenn es als multimediale Spielwiese dienen soll: Ich habe zwei bis drei Geräte von ultramobil (Telefon, nein kein Apfel-Phone ) bis stationär (Desktop) die das besser können.

Und auf ein "Farb-eInk-Surftablet" wenn man sowas denn bräuchte, können die Interessenten wohl doch noch etwas warten.

Da kann ich mich beachwanderer in der Argumentation nur anschließen. Eine farbige Alternative alà Mirasol ist nach den bisherigen eInk-Displays der nächste Schritt - aber nur solange Stromverbrauch, Kontrast und Anzeigequalität stimmen.

Auf die Mirasol-Displays bin ich auch schon gespannt. Sieht schon beeindruckend aus und macht auch hinsichtlich des Akkus wirklich Sinn.

Ich denke nur, dass solche "Display-Zwitter" den Kunden wenigstens *irgendwie* was Farbiges geben sollen. Und das kann im Bezug auf ein vollfarbiges Display nur eben eine Übergangslösung sein. Wenn überhaupt.
