That's funny, I was just asking myself: "how can people stand to watch the news these days?"

I had this debate, amongst others, with my father many times. Never really came up with an adequate reply until after his death
Now I would tell him that fiction is a vast thought experiment. It allows us to explore what ifs. Shrodringers Cat is thus a short story. A work of fiction. Of course that is just a clever answer. It is entertainment. Just as more than half of what we eat is just entertainment |

Between this thread, the "Tablets are a waste of time" thread and a thread in another forum, I feel like MobileRead has leapt into an alternate universe for the month of December.
[EDIT: ETA - My posting timing was unfortunate and accidental (I was posting without seeing pdurrant's post), so to clarify, the "alternate universe" remark refers to there being threads with subjects such as "tablets are a waste of time" and "how can you stand to read fiction books", and nothing more.] Last edited by pdurrant; 12-19-2012 at 11:45 AM. It is the opinion of the Moderation Team that the time to close this thread has arrived. There's been far to much name-calling (troll) and rudeness (you will note that some of the posts have disappeared from this thread). For those of you wondering how things work at MobileRead Forums, here are the Posting Guidelines. Last edited by WT Sharpe; 12-19-2012 at 01:39 PM. |
