Syncing undated files from Calibre to Kindle?

I sideloaded books using "Send to Device" button, nothing fancy, just let Calibre convert them to azw3 on the fly. However, later, when I did certain modification (spelling corrections, certain polishing, etc.) to the azw3 files with Calibre and plug the Paperwhite again, would Calibre ask me to send the updated files to the device?

I did make some research but "sync Calibre to Kindle" doesn't return something I could use.

AFAIK only Calibre companion has an smart update feature.

You could look at the file dates on the device

Why not just send every file that is already marked 'On Device"?

That's what I do these days. Not EVERY files but only updated files. But sometimes I made changes to more than one books and not sending them right away (the paperwhite is somewhere else), then later I may forgot what I did.

Use a custom column or a tag to keep track of updated books.

I use a send-on-connect Reading List. If I change a book, or add a new book, I add it to the reading list and the next time I connect, it gets sent.

Excellent point -- and Reading List will even wipe itself clean after syncing.
