I had 7 emails from ereaderIQ this morning informing me of wish list price drops even lower than I had been willing to pay. I felt faint from the competing emotions of horror and elation.

To say nothing of the Kobo coupons that are available. Unfortunately, Kobo seems to be having a bit of problems today. Overloaded, one suspects. Just as well, I've already bought 7 more Inspector Morse books. At 40% off.

Oh, this is bad. Very bad. I am turning off my computer(s) until AFTER today's sales are over. I'm completely out of control. My TBR is now back over 100. AAAAGGGGHHHHH!

I remind myself that in the couple of years that my TBR will last there are bound to be more sales that are just as good. No more ebooks until 1st Feb 2013! And then I suspect it'll be some Baen monthly bundles.

I must admit that the 80% off Barbara Hambley ebooks almost got me. But I've read most of them in paper, so it would have needed a smaller starting price to have made me fall. (20% of £7.50/$12 is still $2.40. That's more than my average purchase price this year, which is just $2.25)

I resisted Cyber Monday, but I can't resist a wishlisht book from a favorite author (I Suck at Girls by Justin Halpern) for $3.79 on Amazon. The book is only 6 months old!

"Luckily" there didn't seem to be much on offer for Cyber Monday in the UK.

I think the Open Road promo might have worked, but Open Road didn't seem to have the same range of books here.

I've managed to limit myself to two paid ebooks so far this month (and only three freebies, I think). Neither was a book I really really wanted, but they were both undoubtedly great bargains.

That's still +5 books and only 3 read, for a net gain of 2 in my TBR. Sigh. Even worse, one of the freebies came about because I was looking up series details for my new TBR spreadsheet, and noticed the author was giving away another book in the series. The irony.

Actually, I've just realised that's not quite right. I read a couple of short stories, too, to try to clean up my TBR. At least two other items were crossed off. I think I've broken even. And I'm reasonably likely to finish my current book before the month is out.

I refused to read any emails that had any of the following words 'cyber' 'sale' 'off' 'special' 'discount' 'coupon' 'today only', etc. I just deleted them all. I don't care if there was anything important in there.. I shall not be tempted!

Very wise! The offers will come around again, next year or the year after. And I still won't have my TBR list down to a manageable size!

This thread makes me glad I don't have a credit card!! So, cyber sales and ebook sales mean nothing to me. Unless I go to the store and get a gift card to buy the ebooks. Then I'm in trouble! Stay strong, people!
