Post Wodehouse, P.G.: The Intrusion of Jimmy. v1 27 Aug 2008

Sir Pelham Grenville Wodehouse (1881-1975) was a popular English comic writer. His books are usually set around pre-war upper-class English society.

"The Intrusion of Jimmy" (1910) is the American version of "A Gentleman of Leisure". There are at least spelling differences in the text (favor/favour, theater/theatre, hullo/halloa), but only "The Intrusion of Jimmy" is available in PG.

Jimmy Pitt is an American well-to-do young man who just came back from London to New York, he bets he can break into a house, and he does... Then a story of misunderstandings, engagements and theft develops, mainly again in England. While it may be classified as a comic novel, it's far from the hysterical absurdities of many Hollywood comedies.

I created this version from the PG text, which has a number of typos and OCR errors. (The main version of the book found in Google Books seems to be a direct copy of the PG text, with the same mistakes, such as "Eichlieu" for "Richelieu"). I added curly quotes, a TOC, etc., and created the book with mobiperl.

Any kind of feedback is welcome.

Jellby, these are brilliant editions. Though any chances of doing the rest of the books for Wodehouse on PG?

Not any chance, I'm afraid. Even the existing Wodehouse books are bound to disappear due to MobileRead moving to life+70 copyright.
