ktwombley > have you seen the posts under the serial console thread. I think now we are close to a recovery solution even via serial terminal. hope more people will get experimenting if they feel safer in doing so.
also I suggest people with such big breakthrough deserve a material incentive. so if you have a paypal account that will be handy for donations.

decompiling java binaries has always been a standard sort of thing - assuming the original code wasn't too terribly obfuscated.

I'm curious about the library app too - given I experienced almost the same sort of behavior as johnseeking, after changing androidID via installing a new busybox (still haven't figured out which was the culprit) - guessing it may be more related to ID or serial#...?

Ermine 1.01 = Ermine 0.9 + Google Apps from Cyanogenmod 6 HDPI

Using this version you might eliminate steps 13 and 14.

It would be awesome if you can find out how to change the default tablet pdf reader that is used in the library (when you tap and hold a pdf and choose open in tablet)

It would be better to set it up to ezpdf reader rather than pdf to go...

After applying the almine update, your sn is in /system/serial_number. Remount /system rw, modify that file, and then restart any app that cares about the serial number (or just restart your PE)

Fixed the Library bug.

It is safe to update over your previous update.

Turns out it was much easier than I thought. The library database stores the device's serial number for some reason. Just fixing it during the upgrade works.

I too am experiencing the issue with the library (of course I ran the upgrade on top of my already installed Ermine). I then ran your latest update above, but it did not fix the issue for me. Where is the SN being stored? maybe I can fix it myself...

went ahead and applied the allmine-latest update:

- already had 1.01 (i.e. cm6 gapps as mentioned above) so did not even put gapps.zip on the usb drive. worked fine as far as I can tell.
- after update, boot shows "entourage edge" rather than pocket edge
- library survived intact (i.e. did not disappear yay) and books open fine from it.
- contacts all synced correctly
- market showing incompatible for some things e.g. Quick Settings (the one by sergej)
- camera squished (noted above) and keyboard offscreen (gingerbread keyboard fix noted)
- google voice would not complete setup until it was updated from the market (problems hanging on the voicemail section at the end) but after update it was fine.

I wonder if the camera and keyboard issues are because the device seems (at least in part) to think it is not a pocket edge anymore? but maybe thinks it has resolution of the full size device? not sure if that makes sense as all other normal screens and the reader seem fine.

also:

- lost "airplane mode" (not exactly a big deal)
- can't find the hibernation settings anymore (but the device does immediately hibernate if I close it, so not exactly a big deal)
- correction: rebooted the device and "pocket edge" is displayed for the first 3 light-balls, it's only on the 4th that "entourage edge" shows instead. still not sure if this is relevant.
- "corrected" serial # (with the extra 0) is what shows in edge settings - again not sure if this is relevant.

Okay, getting very intrigued. I already had Gapps installed, but voice and market do not work on my 2.2. It sounds like tarvoke was in the smae place and he just installed this new file and got it all working. Is that what you did tarvoke? If so, it sounds like it is time to take the plunge. I am not worroed about the deyboard as I use slideit and hope that would not change.
