Is there a way to create a toc.ncx file from an existing (apparently manually created) html toc file. I have a book that I want to edit - particularly its TOC - but it doesn't have a toc.ncx file and the <h> tags were not used. Yet it does have an html toc page. Way too many chapters to manually go through the book and add the appropriate tags.

Calibre can convert html links into a toc.ncx. Convert the epub into epub, go to the Table of Contents tab and select Force use of auto-generated Table of Contents. If there are more than 50 html links increase the Number of links to add to Table of Contents value above 50.

Wow! Who'd a thought. Once upon a time, thought I had probably learned all that Sigil and Calibre could do. But since then have continued to find some new feature or capability almost every day. Thanks for the tip. Saved me hours of work.

Calibre changes its capabilities almost weekly, both from, contributors code and ideas sparked from questions here at MR. You really should visit the Calibre What is New page frequently, even if you don't upgrade... There are just too many changes to keep up with in one chunk.

Sigh proceeds a little slower , with only 1 or 2 releases per year. But what a release, when it happens Sigil 7 is a long way from Sigil 2 (when I started).
