That error is the operating system reporting an I/O error on the disk.

I would suggest that you do the following:
- Run the OS level disk check on the drive holding Calibre
- If that completes OK, run the Calibre database integrity check (click the down-arrow at the side of the Library icon and then select Library Maintenance->Check Library

OperationalError: disk I/O error

That is a clue.
You may have a damaged filesystem (run chkdsk.exe if windows)
or a HD that is failing.
I really don't think that Dat to day Calibre should be run on a flash device.
They have limited lifetime write counts.

itimpi, It won't let me run the OS level disk check on the drive holding Calibre. It tells me that windows won't check the disc while it's in use and I it won't let me scheduled it.

theducks, I ran chkdsk.exe. It sais that is just lecture and that I have errors and closed itself.

What shold I do?
Thanks in advice.
