Locations line not showing on Kindle

The location line has disappeared from the bottom of my Kindle.

I'd like to get it back. Anybody know how I would do this? I've searched the user guide and googled the problem but come up with no hits.

Thanks in advance.

It's feature. Welcome to the 3.1 update.
Now press the menu button to see your missing locations/pages. It wasn't a seamless transition for you?

You can't get it back until Amazon decides to let you have it back. Amazon just pushed out a new firmware update to the 3rd gen Kindles. One of the "features" was removing the locations from the bottom of the screen. Since you can't downgrade a Kindle, you are stuck unless customers can convince Amazon to undo this.

In the mean time, you have to press the Menu button to get the location (and page) information.

They spent effort and money to add real page numbers, then went and hid it. D'oh!

I'm guessing it looked too crowded with both page and location. But it was too much trouble to add a setting for " always show page / location / both / hide ". So they hid both. Now people complain; they will put it back. Then people will complain that pages (locations) are useless to them and they don't need to see them all the time.

As Yoda says, do or do not; don't half-ass it.

That's right, if you don't like it, write to Amazon (the email address that occasionally pops up as the screen saver) and tell them to change it back.

Maybe if enough people do, they will add the option to show it.

(What's a bit depressing though is when you do so, you get some guy in India apologizing to you. I feel bad that some guy's job is just apologizing to people on behalf of the actions of a giant corporation...)
