Talking Hello Everyone

I just wanted to drop by and introduce myself, my name is Chari.

I just got my Sony reader a few hours ago, got it up and running and even installed a few of my ebooks (pdf) only trouble is that the reader only lets me size my books from small to medium. The books that were pre-installed can be sized up to large. Is there something I can do about this or will I have to go back to reading books from "other sites" on my trusty "Treo 650 and "RCA 1100.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Chari

Welcome to MobileRead, LadySavoy!

What you're encountering is the fact that the Reader's PDF emulator only does those two sizes -- the M is intended to crop the margins.

You'll likely find going forward that PDF is a dreadful format for e-books because its contents can't be re-flowed to accommodate different display sizes. That's the short version anyway. Search the forum for "PDF" and you'll find multiple very long versions.

In any case, most folks end up sticking with RTF (which sacrifices image display) or converting their files to LRF (the unsecured variant of BBeB), both of which work remarkably well on the Reader.

Again, welcome, and jump right on in.

Thanks so much for your help NatCh.

I was checking out other post here and tried converting from pdf to rtf. and it worked. Sacrificed the pictures, but we can't have everything!

Thanks again!

I generally read PDFs on my Sony Reader in landscape orientation (see photo), which produces a more-readable text size. Click and hold the "Size" button to make it switch between display orientations.
