Updating... why is it so slow

I could understand it before connecting to my new cable, but it's still slow as ever... Apart from the updating the program is slow starting up... Maybe this is what it's supposed to be?

I'm on a limited download, so if I download Calibre everytime there's an update, I think that'll would get me over the limit...??

I dont understand the problem.
If you have a slow connection, what are you suggesting which would improve this?

You're not forced to download calibre everytime theres an update.

Depends on your hardware. What's the spec of the machine you're running? How old is it? What other programs are you running at the same time? What operating system are you running?
