Ich halts nicht mehr aus, ich muss ein e-ink Display sehen!

Hallo liebe Leute!

Ich habe noch keinen e-ink reader, noch nie einen gesehen, und ich halte es einfach nicht mehr aus!
Ich muss unbedingt wissen wie so ein e-ink Display aussieht, sonst platze ich!

Ich lese sehr viel, aber schon lange keine (Papier-) Bücher mehr.
Das beste was ich bildschirmtechnisch habe sind 2 Tablet-PCs mit 12" 1400x1050 s-ips Display (Lenovo x60t).
Davon kann ich wirklich den ganzen Tag lang beschwerdefrei lesen, mit oder ohne Brille/Kontaktlinsen.
Bei den Desktop-Bildschirmen (20" NEC S-IPS) ist das leider nicht der Fall, weswegen ich demnächst eine neu angepasste Brille bekomme in der Hoffnung auf Besserung.
Ich vermute, dass die Entfernung zum Bildschirm ausschlaggebend ist was die Ermüdung der Augen angeht.
Man spürt doch auch wie bei verschiedenen Entfernungen die Muskeln um die Augen herum neu anspannen. Das ist glaube ich was die Ermüdung der Augen verursacht.
Die Tablets sind so nah an meinen Augen wie ein echtes Buch, deswegen ist das Lesen davon auch genauso angenehm.

Aber ich schweife ab, ich muß unbedingt die Erfahrung machen von einem e-ink Display zu lesen.

Jetzt ist es leider so, dass ich sehr pessimistisch bin was die Hardware der e-ink Geräte angeht.
Ich lese PDFs und djvus (und Wikipedia) und glaube dass die lahme Hardware und das lahme e-ink Display mir einen großen Strich durch das Lesevergnügen machen werden.
Gescannte PDFs werden die Dinger - meiner Einschätzung nach - bestimmt nicht vernünftig anzeigen können, und ich bin nicht bereit 700 Euro für den Irex Digital Reader hinzulegen nur um meine Neugierde zu befrieden. Es gibt einfach so viele Einschränkungen auf einmal. Schlechte Auflösung, lahme Hardware, schlechte Software, lahmes schwarzweiss-Display.

Also, gibt es einen relativ günstigen e-ink reader (~200 Euro), der in der Lage ist mit einem 5MB großen PDF (kein Scan) das ab und zu mal eine Bild/Zeichnung enthält, umzugehen?
Und zu guter letzt, wo kann ich den in Deutschland kaufen?

Ich sehe gerade, dass die neuen Sony Reader bei ebay zu haben sind, d.h. explizit auf der deutschen ebay-seite.
Kommt dann noch Zoll dazu aber der 5" Reader kostet nur 200 Euro.
Gefällt mir irgendwie, ist dessen Hardware auf dem aktuellen Stand?

Im deutschsprachigen Bereich ist das doch einfach: Fahr in die nächste größere Stadt und besuche den größten Buchladen dort. Ein freundlicher Mitarbeiter wird dir dort einen Sony eBook reader zeigen.

Außer bei Staufacher in Schönbühl nahe Bern - da wird man dich ignorieren. Aber Du kannst Dir das Display trotzdem anschauen. Gekauft habe ich dann bei Thalia unterm Loeb - ich lasse mich nicht ignorieren.

Der 505 ist zwar ein Auslaufmodell aber nicht so schlecht. Aber deine Entscheidung.

Um es klar zu sagen...PDF und e-Reader passen noch nicht richtig zusammen.
Also vorher umwandeln, dann lesen. Dann klappt es auch mit dem Reader!

Ich versteh schon, dass Du ungeduldig bist, aber gerade bei Lesegeräten gibt es doch teilweise große Unterschiede und da lohnt es sich, sich im Vorfeld zu informieren. Die Wahl des richtigen ebook readers ist ja v.a. davon abhängig, welche Anforderungen man persönlich an das Gerät hat (Displaygröße, ebook-Formate, Blocksatz oder nicht etc.). Schau doch mal ins MobileRead wiki. Da werden hier alle ebook Lesegeräte verglichen: Link und Link. Vielleicht hilft Dir das weiter. Außerdem würde ich auch einfach mal im Handel vorbeischauen und ein eInk-Gerät in die Hand nehmen. Da dürfte sich die erste Neugier dann legen und man kann evtl. zur gemütlichen Entscheidungsfindung übergehen.

@schmolch: Ich würde an Deiner Stelle auf jedenfall noch bis zur Franfurter Buchmesse (14.-18. Oktober) warten. Mache ich genauso, und zwar seit April (Bei mir hat sich das mit dem Informieren etwas in die Länge gezogen).
Dort wird der erste Deutsche Reader, der "txtr" vorgestellt und mal sehen vielleicht kommt ja auch noch von anderen Herstellern irgendetwas Neue.

Danke für die Tips und die nützlichen Links.

Ich werde mich auf jeden Fall noch weiter umsehen und versuchen mich etwas zu beruhigen. Der Tee ist schon aufgesetzt :-)
Die ersten Erfahrungen mit den neuen Sony Readern trudeln ja gerade erst im englischen Bereich des Forums ein. Die werde ich weiter verfolgen. Dort war auch ein positiver Bereicht bezüglich PDFs auf dem 600er, daher meine impulsive Reaktion :-)
Ich weiß schon, dass es da Grenzen gibt. Auf meinem Nokia 770 (300MHz 64MB RAM 800x600) war das Lesen von PDFs für mich praktisch unmöglich. Die neuen Ereader haben ja immerhin 400-500Mhz, 128MB RAM und sind speziell fürs Lesen gemacht.

Vielleicht lässt sich ja tatsächlich so ein Gerät in der nächstgrößeren Stadt (Mannheim) begutachten, da werde ich gleich mal nachfragen.

Schade dass man nicht weiß wann Sony die Geräte in DE verfügbar macht, der 600er scheint ja wirklich ein guten Eindruck zu machen.

Die wiki ist übrigens echt toll! :-)

Eins steht jedoch fest: Ich kauf mir einen e-ink reader :-))))

Laut lesen.net soll der PRS-600 ab 19.10. erhältlich sein. Ich verfolge diesen Reader auch mit großem Interesse. Bis Ende des Jahres sind allerdings noch andere interessante Reader angekündigt.

Na das klingt doch schon viel geduldig als dein Eingangs-Post (da hat der Tee wohl gewirkt ). Ich würde wirklich auch noch warten, zumindest bis nach der Buchmesse. Es tut sich zur Zeit doch einiges.

Wenn ich mir einen 600er von dem Händler aus den USA kaufe kann ich doch Garantie in Deutschland bestimmt vergessen.
Ansonsten hätt ichs gemacht, aber Garantie muss einfach sein.

Ja, das ist korrekt. In diesem Fall hättest Du keine Garantie. Da lohnt sich das Warten doch.

Dieser txtr soll ja zur Buchmesse "released" werden.
Wenn aber ein Reader schon in 4 Wochen auf den Markt kommen soll, gäbe es dann inzwischen nicht wenigstens schon Videos oder Bilder des Readers, die ihn in Aktion zeigen????
