I always find it a little disturbing when I hear of adults that aren't able to control their own reading and require someone else to do it for them.

I've always thought of it in quite simple terms; if a subject matter offends, don't read it. If you get all worked up about a topic and tend to offend others because of that, don't participate. People that make it sound like they are forced to read and participate in a subject just because it's easily accessible are being disingenuous at best; what they are really saying is either that they unable to control themselves or that they want to censor other people's discussions because they don't agree with the opinions that are expressed in those discussions.

The opt in/out thing is a reasonable idea but IMO, you should have to choose to opt out like you choose to ignore people. Or perhaps, we should all be ignoring each other by default and have to unignore people specifically to see what they are posting...

Fantastic move - well done guys and girls!
Can we also add "Back-lit vs. e-Ink" discussions to this list?

I did read it.

I must have missed it.

I think it should still be there. *shrug* What if someone gets on there and posts porn or is a new account made with the purpose to spam or someone goes nuts and starts calling us all MFer?

Are we to go look through the list of active mods to find the one available?

Just my opinion.

pick a couple of the mods out of that list and PM them.

maybe this would be the proper forum to have a waiting period to enter into?

I agree. I also do not understand why people read threads that they get upset by.

Heck, I've seen roaches one could throw a saddle on and ride. I've tried stepping on them but it just annoyed them. I once caught one drinking from a can of Raid. The little bugger had the gall to ask for a refill.

I think the whole idea is ridiculous! Are we children who need protecting and have to go crying to the moderators just because we don't like something that is posted? Grow up, people. If you don't like something in a thread, ignore it. If really bothers so much you can't ignore it, don't click on the thread. Mechanisms were already in place to deal with this so I feel the idea of segregating certain threads to a place that is invisible unless you opt in just because a thread strays into a certain topic is overreacting. Yeesh!
