Vaporware: Nuke 'Em if Ya Got 'Em
Now in its seventh year, Wired News' Vaporware Awards celebrates all those eagerly anticipated gizmos in 2003 that were put off, put away or quietly put down.
Don't want to spoilt the story by telling you which is #1 Vaporware of the year; better read it yourself |

The OQO was showing at CES2004, so I think we can legitamately scratch that one off the list (crossing fingers).

I guess until it reaches the market, it's still officially vaporware. The Fossil Palm OS watch was just days from reaching the market..but it got delayed and delayed and delayed until it was cancelled...
Beside, the OQO has lost some of it's luster since then, now some PDA have VGA screen, 1" Hard drives are becoming common (for mp3 players now, but it's probably a matter of time that PDA will come with one too) and other company are coming up with similar form-factor PCs (Antelope). It's still cool but they better get their act together now before the window of opportunity passes them... Making a micro PC is not as hard as it use to be... |

Totally true. The 1Ghz processor is probably a ways off for most handhelds though, no? Admittedly, I shy away from PPC's so I don't know what they're real range is now. I would be swayed by the OQO though. Btw, Alex, the videofor this is better than the pics. Heck, it's better than, well, most videos. |
