He notes that artisans cannot practice their crafts into old age because of bodily weakness, whereas those who profess the liberal arts can carry on despite ageing. personally i aspire to the idle life of the rich, which (like medecine) poses no problem even when you are old and decrepit, but i suppose for the less ambitious medecine could be a good fallback.
