AndroidGuys: Android Market Will Hit 100K Apps

http://www.androidguys.com/2010/07/1...00-apps-month/

Quote:
The graph speaks for itself. According to Android Market web interface AndroLib.com, the Android Market now offers users more than 90,000 apps, and is on pace to end the month in six figures. It will reach this milestone several months shy of its second birthday. A year ago, the number was under 10,000.
Great graphs at http://www.androlib.com/appstats.aspx

Impressive, just 8 months after the iPhone apps hit six digits.

But then again, how many apps do we need?

I think a lot depends on how well you can search or browse through the store, apple's store is fine if you already know what you are searching for, but simply browsing is pretty poor due to the lack of sub-categories.

Agreed, I've found all the apps I use from outside recommendations, rather than through the store itself.

Google has confirmed that the Android Market currently contains 70,000 titles, far short of the 100,000 estimate recently published by AndroLib, according to numbers provided during the company's Q2 earnings call
I'm curious how many apps are available outside the Market...none of the non-smartphone Android devices can access the Android Market yet anyways, so there must be apps out there for them to download.
