[GUI Plugin] Find Duplicates - Page 37

This is a wonderful plugin, but it automatically resets the default "Searching" function to highlight search results instead of restricting the book list to the results. Is there a setting that will allow me to keep the search preferences of the plugin separate from the search preferences of the main program?

My default Main GUI (normal) search shows only results. (Not Highlighted mode)
Find Duplicates shows only results ( Use the left radio button setting, so I see all results, not just 1 book at a time)

Are you ALSO seeing non-duplicate books?

BTW 1.6.2 is the current version (has been for quite some time) of FDPI

Hi - By the left radio button setting in the Find Duplicates plugin, are you referring to the option to "Find all groups at once with highlighting"? For me, checking that option resets the main GUI search function by automatically selecting the radio button that says "Highlight search results instead of restricting the book list to the results." Follow me?

When executing the FD plugin, it shows only duplicate results; but this isn't the issue: I am asking WHY the plugin would influence the main GUI search functionality of the program. The idea of a plugin is NOT to influence main GUI settings, in my view.

This PI uses the common Calibre code to highlight matches (pairs). For some unknown reason, some users experience the failure to revert to original.

Preferences: Searching: Show Quick Toggle is the inelegant solution for a quick reset

Many thanks for that suggestion. It seems to be the easiest workaround. Is the author of the plugin aware of this defect? It should be a relatively easy fix on a coding level.

The Author is aware. The fix is not.

I'm very sad to find this plugin does not work with calibre 2.49(64bit). Nothing found. it works well till 2.48.

It works (at my installation, at least), so perhaps you have another problem.

Works here as well. And I'm surprised to find that I actually have some duplicates in my main library.

Ditto. Works fine with 2.49 64 bit calibre. And boy, do I have dupes!

@lousi - you could try installing the 32bit version of 2.48 as a workaround - you can get it from here calibre release (2.48.0)

You can leave 2.49 64bit as it is, yes you can have both versions installed, They will use the same configuration data and libraries

Can you let us know if the PI's work from 2.48 32bit - if they don't then it would suggest something is 'interfering'

What version of Windows are you using and is it up to date?

FWIW those PI's also work for me in version 2.49 Ψ²

I would like to use this plugin only at a subset of all the books in the library.

I know, i can define a virtual library and i can lmit the search to this.

What i like to do, is to select a subset of books (select them in the list).

After that, dependent on my needs, i would like to use find duplicates
1. only using this subset, as if they are in a virtual library
( if i select 4 books, only these books are compared to each other)
2. compare this books with all the others, but in the result set only the duplicates of the selected are books are relevant and displayed (and the formats are deleted if chosed only if ithey belongs to this books).
( if i select 4 books within a library of 1000, the 4 books are compared against the 1000)

Hopefully i explained it goog enough?

Is there a way to do this, i am not aware of?

Well, you could use Mark Books to select an arbitrary set of books and define a "marked:true" VL.

Nice Idea, thies could help me partly.

i tried, it, but it does not work.

After defining the VL, starting Duplicate finder:
Analyzing 0 books for duplicates...

After that the VL is empty, i think Duplicate finder deletes the marks.
