Okay seriously "Tha Hobbit" on Kindle
I fixed it with Mobi2Mobi, but hopefully a real fix will be forthcoming. |

I noticed that the books are described as written by J.R.R. Tolkien and Christopher Tolkien both on Amazon page. I was aware that Christopher Tolkien edited and put together many of his father's incomplete writings, but Hobbit and Lord of the Rings trilogy were released by J.R.R. Tolkien alone.
I'm curious, are there changes to the text, significant enough to warrant adding Christopher Tolkien as a co-author? |

OK, I just ordered Children of Hurin from HarperCollins, in Mobi format. I'll tell you more tomorrow about quality, when I'll try it on my Cybook.

Yep, I just had the sample of "Tha Hobbit" delivered to my Kindle2. Not sure if I'm going to read them all again or not. This would make the fourth time (though it's been 15 years since the last read). |

Too expensive. I can get a used paperback copy for a 1/3 of this. Yes, I don't have an ereader at this time, but even if I did I would not buy this. The whole trilogy would be over $30 easy and I can get it all, in hardback if I wanted, for far less than that. I have a used store in town with over 1 million used books and they have tons of these.
Ebooks must be cheaper to win the masses. But yes, it is good news to see if finally coming at all. |

Actually, once it's available, the omnibus will be about $15. Seems like a pretty reasonable price for 3 books.
I already own several copies of LotR -- a leatherbound, the illustrated anniversary edition, and a 3 volume softcover. Having it on my Kindle is well worth $15 to me. |

The prices of the ebooks don't bother me as there's advantages to having the book in electronic format (convenience, availability, space, etc.) To get back on topic, I'm glad that these books are now "legally" available and not a temptation for those who may otherwise have obtained pirated copies. |

Yep. Proudly announcing the availability at http://www.fictionwise.com/lotr.htm "For a limited time, get a 100% MicroPay Rebate on all J.R.R. Tolkien titles" I guess that makes up for the higher price than at Amazon.
