Just an update from me: I did buy the omnibus edition from Amazon shortly after my post. I did notice a couple of minor typos, but nothing that kept it from being readable at all. Yeah, there were some places for formatting could have been improved re: verse, but overall it wasn't bad IMO.

I am not sure that the first picture could be classed a formatting error. Did you try a smaller font size? It looks as if the font was too big so that indented lines had to run over and then line up under the indent again. That is standard formatting in a line of poetry is too long for the typeface. It IS a formatting error if you choose a smaller font size and the lines still look like that.

I think the point is that the indentation on the last two lines is wrong. The penultimate line is not indented - it should be. The last line is indented - it shouldn't be.

I'll check my BoB ePub version tonight if someone hasn't done it sooner

All interesting stuff on the quality of eBooks.

The omnibus edition is 12 something, individually they are 7.95. I'll put up with a few formatting errors.

Overdrive has had them since they were released. It's just that it took some time for the NYPL to add ePub.

sorry for the bump of this older topic, but after all this time have these books been fixed? I'd love to have LOTR on my Kindle (re-buying it for probably the 4th time, sigh) but not if it has major formatting issues...
