The browser is not that bad for what it is. Fine for looking at mobile sites, checking email, and stuff like that. Not bad for being free.

That K3 browser pic is AMAZING compared to K2 browsing. Can't wait for the K4 next year!

Kindle is a GREAT eReader...only
It will allow you to surf the web, but it's not user friendly. Jeff Bezos has made clear that Kindle is a great device for reading books and what he doesn't say, but his silence makes clear, is that it's not 'state-of-the-art' for other tasks like browsing or email; though it will do them.
I highly recommend Kindle for reading, but wouldn't be under any illusion that you'll get an 'IPad' surfing experience with it. |

I doubt anyone is really expecting an iPad experience out of any Kindle browser. But the K3 browser does seem to be a vast improvement over previous versions. It may even rise to the level of usable. But, even with the K3's improvements, it's probably still going to be slow, just not glacial like the browser on my K1.

Using the new browser over a WiFi connection should be much better than the old browser over 3G. Or at least as good as it can be, given Kindle's low powered CPU. And WebKit javascript should let you access more sites with full functionality. The 'article view' will be nice also. All in all it opens up a lot of possibilities that were only theoretical before.

Gmail works fine for me. I use the mobile version, but even the regular version will load.

Only thing I'd particularly want from the Kindle browser is google reader, to be honest.
