Batch copying selected book IDs from GUI?

Is there a way to do this? The use case is that I have certain scripts that call calibredb to modify books, but I need their IDs.

Even better would be an easy way to run arbitrary files (or Python scripts) on selected books in the GUI.

Maybe. Sort of. If you want to fiddle a little. Job Spy has a GUI Tool that is a VL Helper that creates search criteria using the book ids of all selected books. So, you could run that, then copy the Search Bar's search criteria it creates into a text document. Then, massage and S&R that text using a text editor to put it into the format you need for your script.

You can make a custom column "built from other columns" that contains the book ID, which you can then use in search expressions or what-have-you. The template is
Code:
{id}
