Lightbulb Calibre viewer into android
Hello everyone,

I did some search around the internet and I saw that there was quite an interest for a reader/viewer that can read calibre annotations/highlights on android.

I was wondering was is the biggest hurdle to importing the already amazing calibre viewer into android?

Use the calibre content server and you can read in any browser on any device in the calibre viewer with automaticlly synced annotations.

I'm afraid it's not true any more about "any browser on any device". The browsers on Pocketbook Era and on Huawei Matepad Paper can't load the main page of the Content Server anymore (saying something about windows clone, I don't remember exactly).

On the Huawei Matepad Paper, the only browser that works with the Content Server is Firefox.

I can't see any images when using Lynx. Life can be tough when your browser is out of date.

Seriously, if your browser is that far out of date, it is not safe to use.

I think it is because of system webview not being updated (though it received last security update in Feb 2024; the system is Harmony OS 2.1.0 - probably equivalent to Android 11?) while Firefox, somehow, has its own way to render html/javascript.
