Weather web app for Pocketbook

I present a web application “Weather for PocketBook” (pbweather), written in pure Go, statically linked.

This application doesn’t need a web browser (but can use it to display a html result), and can work in old generations of Pocketbooks, beginning with Pro series.

(see about Go cross compiler )

It’s a version 1.02 of the weather application. This version is almost ready for public use (a small number of found bugs is fixing step by step).

Archive is here:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2Q...ew?usp=sharing

In archive we see two files. Put a main utility “weather” in the /mnt/ext1/system/bin, and a configuration file _RiodeJaneiroWeather.app in the /mnt/ext1/applications.

Run by clicking _RiodeJaneiroWeather in the application section. This is a self-executable configuration file (to be exact: it runs via she-bang the main utility and then main utility use it).

Application can be configured to fit your needs and demands (later I’ll make a number of presets for example, and manual). The program will establish a wifi connection if it is not established, and it shuts down wifi after its work, if network was not establish before.

TZ must be specified yet, otherwise it will be in the UTC (GMT)

In the near future:

1. the ability to customize the units of measure (hPa, Fahrenheit, mph)
2. display of clouds, perhaps with pictures
3. the time zone will be calculated, unless not specified
4. the wind will indicate not only the speed but also in Beufort units
5. automatical (or forced) specification of the language to display the results (localization, at least for Russian and English)
7. installer for convenience

After processing the program sends its results to the reader (fbreader by default, but it can be changed to any other). It turns out more convenient than a browser is. Running an application _RiodeJaneiroWeather.app looks like an usage of the bookmarks.
