Literary fiction, the ‘worthy’ writing we dread to read-the genre of elegant despair

Interesting article for all aspiring indie novelists.

Even literary fiction, the ‘worthy’ writing we all dread to read, was brilliantly characterised by Nicolas Mosley as just one more genre - the genre of elegant despair.

Where Do I Start?

Welcome.

I'm a philosopher, a specialist philosopher of human suffering, and human freedom. I've spent my whole life getting to the deep simplicity that underlies these things, and I love helping others get to it as well.
Thanks all I need to know.

other than that, tl;dr

Oh an I think there is a vast range and spectrum of fiction from comics to popular to literary to impenetrable.

I recently picked up "The Round House" which was touted as literary fiction. Now admittedly I've only read the first chapter but it's amazingly well written, interesting and absorbing.... YMMV

Breathless yet long-winded. The boy scout stumbles on Baudrillard.
