Do .prc files automatically re-flow?
I have a lot of rare, out-of-print books as pdf files. I have downloaded the MobiPocket Creator and transformed them to .prc files.
I don't get my device (Kindle) until next week, but I'm wondering if the .prc format (unlike pdf) will re-flow the text so that books will display properly and in a decent font size, and still be in paragraph format, on a Kindle screen. Anybody tried this? How well does it work? Also, can you see the original page numbers or do they get lost in the conversion? |

PRC is basically stipped-down HTML, so yes, it does relow. No original page numbers unless you enter them as text.

You can also check the result using MobiPocket Reader on your PC. It should be similar to what you get on the Kindle (differences due to screen size in pixels and the font used). You can change the window size on your PC to about 600x800 to approximate the Kindle.
Some PDFs work well as MOBIs (.prc) and others do not, because the reflowability of PDFs is variable. If any part of the PDF will end up as images in the MOBI file, they should be JPEG (not GIF) and this may require a change to the default Creator setup. |

Well unless you need something the HTML can do that the PRC cannot, you do get everything in one nice container with the PRC. So one file to hold all your content.
