kterm 0.4
New package with changes added by Fvek: fixed colors and command line options. Run kterm -h to list all options.

Shameless X-post
This thing running Frotz (It's 2013 after all) utilised command line switch so thanks for that Fvek. https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...5&postcount=17 Done. Cheers baf |

That's why I added -e
Also, I recently added mouse/touchscreen support. It's on github but baf's apparently away for a couple of weeks so the binaries won't be updated till he gets back and can review the changes. --- Hmm... while setting up frotz to run with kterm I noticed the dialog file requester responds to taps. Other ncurses-based things I tested before didn't. Strange. Last edited by Fvek; 01-29-2013 at 05:10 PM. |

yeah. "taps" work. I noticed that also mate as it goes. Well, much appreciate you rallying around and tidying the KUAL support into the main thread. Thanks again!

many keys not working, not mapped correctly
Hello I downloaded and installed kterm 0.4 zip from http://www.fabiszewski.net/kindle-terminal/ (I installed only the zip, I think that the patches have to be applied only to source code??)
and installed on a kindle touch, I start kterm by the launcher I have an apple wired keyboard a1243 with the italian layout. Many keys work (including ň ŕ č ě), but many don't, for example : ? shift key (no uppercase letters for me) shift key works with some symbol keys, but when used on "." it types ";" instead of ":" none of the symbols above the numbers seems correct I wait for your precious suggestions, thanks |

Patches you can ignore. They are for developers to recreate his work.
Original Source + Patch + Toolchain = "What you have" (the binary). Quote:

Ah. okay...
Let me fire it up via vnc and see what I can think of... Okay. so easy test: Type 1234567890 and qwertyuiop[]#';lkjhgfdsa`zxcvbnm,./ With and Without SHIFT down... Pictured.... As you can see it doesn't work properly on a UK keyboard either. (This is identical output regardless of the vnc program used - I tried a couple.) Cheers. @twobob
to use kterm via vncviewer, you have to load this modmap on the kindle; the first letter, in order for the shift to work, has to be capitalized, why, I don't know ./xmodmap modmap keycode 8 = keycode eh?
read the manual. I provided the tools for you to potentially create a solution. Not a completed solution... I don't have an Italian keyboard for a start! If you want to play with adjusting keymappings because you suspect this may fix your problem, then be my guest and use this tool. I don't have a completed solution. I am not even certain that this will in-the-end fully fix the issue. But there you are. you asked about .Xmodmap (a local "defaults override file" I imagined), I provided the closest I had. xmodmap itself. hope that helps You will have to do some playing yourself to get a solution. As it says on those toys at Christmas "Some Assembly Required" : ) |

on mine (kindle) if I just run... xmodmap Quote:
It's AGES since I did this.... but... try just running xmodmap after a reboot, check the default mappings. Then run your command above and check they have been added.. then script the changes you need to be permanent. I am NO expert in this area. I think I used this to remap the middle click on a touch to the left click for getting up blackbox menus. HTH. |
