New Kindle with Calibre

I have been using Calibre with my Nook. I just got a new Kindle and am trying to put all of my books from Calibre on to it, but Calibre is not detecting my Kindle. Is there something that I have to do to get it to recognize it?

Welcome to MobileRead, amricha2

Under "preferences" "advanced" "Plugins" "Device interface plugins" is the "Kindle" device interface highlighted?

A recent version Calibre should detect the K3 without a issue. I have no problems at all, and did not pre-configure Calibre. Do you have any other Calibre compatible devices plugged in at the same time as your Kindle? For example a iPod, Nook, etc

How old is your version of Calibre? Make sure it's one that came out after he added a driver for the K3 (if that's the one you have).
