Kindle sync error

I have Calibre and it's up to date but it will not sync with my kindle. I get the following error message. Can anyone help me.

My Sonys will occasionally do that. Do a full on device shutdown and then reboot the thing. That always works for me.

Occasionally I have seen that error as well. In my case it seems to be another device communicating over the same port, and waiting cures it.
