This is a textbook published by the Surgeon General of the US Army. It address all aspects of psychiatry in the US military services, including Navy and Air Force.

It has extensive sections on combat fatigue, tracing how it was historically treated as far back as the Civil War to the current day. It relates how it was successfully treated in World War I, only to have the knowledge forgotten and relearned in World War II. It deals extensively with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and reintegration of the combat soldier into civilian society.

It cities many examples of actual individuals and how they were treated and how they responded.

As a US Government publication, it is in the public domain.
