At ZDnet...
James Kendrick's First Impressions: * The device is light and comfortable in the hand. * Construction is very nice. * Rubbery coating on the back makes it a delight to hold. * The browser is very good. * Not as much lag as Android tablets I’ve tried. * The PlayBook interface is better for me than that of Android (Froyo or Honeycomb). * Interface is intuitive and very fluid. * Power button is as bad as you’ve heard. It flat doesn’t work. * HD video plays very well. * Lack of apps is troubling. * Gmail in the browser works very well. _______________________ ((Me...)) I can't wait to Play with the book. He addresses things which I find bothersome with other tablets, and the Playbook seems to be okay in those areas. Naturally, I feel it's overpriced and well-noted issues will have to be dealt with before I could even think of purchasing. Last edited by pphilipp; 04-21-2011 at 01:33 PM. |

they only don't matter when your product doesn't have them. That's SOP for iOS users. They are the first to say "A5 Processor" but then turn around and say we don't need an SD card slot? and when did sd card slots become something only techies can appreciate, last I checked that's your life line of your camera, video recorder that everyone owns. and HDMI is now the standard connection for High def. and organization is techie? Really? These aren't under the hood techie jargon Rock, these are run of the mill features. And yes I'm talking about mainstream write ups. Do you think Walt Mossberger for WSJ is going to ever criticise anything Apple? Last edited by boswd; 04-26-2011 at 02:04 PM. |

Even non-smartphones come with them. Only missing from Apple products.

Regarding the lack of SD slots on iOS devices, it makes perfect sense in Apples walled garden environment. Do you think Jobs is going to let you pop the SD card in an external reader, mount it as a USB drive and bypass his iTunes firewall?
Don’t expect to see a memory card slot on any iOS device anytime soon. |

well on to your comment, let me know when if I ever want to buy an iOS phone again I 'll have a variety of models to choose from .. lets put it this way one restaurant has 10 waiters and their tips for the night come to $1,000. and the tips are to be shared so every gets $100. another restaraunt has one waiter and her nightly tips came to $500. She gets to keep it all herself. so waiter to waiter the latter made more, but on a whole well I think you can figure out the rest |

So you are saying having a tablet. which is a multi media device. That having an SD card slot where you can throw in your card from your camera and upload them directly to your device, without having to go through the process of download to your computer then transferring them serves no purpose and is overated and also to take your card from your video camera and pop it into your device and watch them instanlty and has the ability to save on your device serves no purpose and is overated and let's say 2 years down the road you have accumulated tons of videos, pictures, apps, movies etc and space is running low, but you don't really want to start deleting, so being able to run to the store and pop in an 8G card for example serves no purpose and is overated. Yeah spoke like a true iOS fan. Last edited by boswd; 04-21-2011 at 05:53 PM. |

Hmmm, I don't recall the source, but I read a headline just this morning (Yahoo news?) that said Verizon and At&T are only selling 30% of their inventory of iPhones.
