Iliad as a Windows input device (Wacom)?
Hello,
I apologize if this has been asked. I did a search in the forum and also on the web but didn't find an answer. Can I use the Iliad as a Wacom input device under Windows Vista or Mac OS X? I currently use a Wacom table and this would reduce my backpack load and would be another plus in my decision process. I do not have an Iliad yet. Still trying to decide between the Iliad, Digital Reader or just wait for a Kindle 2 to magically appear. Thx! James Last edited by jamng; 12-22-2008 at 12:45 PM. |

It's doable, but with some effort. There isn't a turn-key setup for it yet:

That looks like its for a Linux PC. I want to use it with Windows XP or Vista. Am I mistaken?

You would need to write some sort of driver for it for other operating systems. Since Unix devices typically appear as character streams, it is very easy to write a user level program to receives the data from the Wacom device on the iLiad, sends it over a socket to the Linux desktop, which then has the X server use that pipe as an input device. I don't know what would be involved for legacy operating systems.
