Voyage - Loose USB port

Hi there,

Does anyone else have a loose USB port on their Voyage? Lately I can only get the thing to charge up by putting a little pressure on the charging cable, flexing it upwards while the Kindle is lying flat , face up.

It's almost like the port has worked loose. It still feels like a very snug fit though.

I've not had this happen on any of my previous Kindles ( 2 * K4-NT, 1* PW1)

It seems such a minor thing, do you think this is worth going through the return/replace process?

Yuck, that was huge recurring problem with first generation Fires. I thought those days were behind us.

Then you definately should get a replacement before it breaks completely and won't charge no more.

Agree with the others--you shouldn't have to go through contortions with your Voyage in order to get it to charge. That's something that can only get worse--not better. Best to get it replaced now.

I've contacted Amazon and they have agreed to replace. Trouble is there is no stock in the @UK at present, so they had me place a new order to get in the queue and they adjusted this order down to zero cost.

Great. Just baby it until the new Voyage arrives. I would even keep the usb cord attached to it and tape it to the back. Plugging in and pulling it back out will just rip the port out of the motherboard that much faster. I killed an ereader that way once (not a Kindle) that had an USB port not soldered correctly.

Well it's freshly charged at the moment, I'm going to use it until it's flat, then charge it fully each time to minimise the plug/unplug cycles.

Good idea. Minimizing the number of times you insert the cable into the interface should help reduce wear.

Cross your fingers. You'll probably be fine until your new unit arrives.
