I'm not sure this counts as a deal or not, but it's a new Lois McMaster Bujold for four bucks. Amazon says 109 pages, so novella rather than novel.

£2.99 at Amazon UK, and not at Kobo. It looks like it's self published, but done very well (at least, judging by the cover!)

Is it DRM-free?
Just curious, given her history with Baen.

I don't think so given the metadata at Amazon. It looks like it has the normal Amazon DRM.

Yeah, that is what it suggest.
I was just hoping for confirmation on general principles.

TextEdit on my Mac was able to open the .azw so I think that is your DRM-free confirmation. Calibre imported it no problems but I have Apprentice there.

Edit: It takes forever to process the import on my Kobo and then does not show up at all in the menu so there may be some issues (mobi, txt, epub tested.) Epub reads fine in Sigil on a Mac and PC.

Oooo! $3.99 isn't a great bargain for a 109 page novella, but I'm Totally Hooked on Bujold's Chalion and Vorkosigan worlds (haven't managed Sharing Knife yet) .... so it's an instant buy for me. Thanks!

Pricing is okay. She's enough of a brand name, known quantity to command that price.
