Charging while in USB mode

today my kindle 3 arrived and I am very pleased. some minutes ago I have seen that while in USB mode the screen says "currently your kindle is not charging". why that? the help says:

When connected to your PC, your Kindle will go into USB drive mode and its battery will be recharged by the computer.

The light is orange. Does it charge or not??

answer to my own: I had it connected to a usb hub which wasn't a good idea. plugged it in in the right place and - voila - charging!

Is it a self powered USB hub?

it was a mini usb hub without power supply. I have written the request to fast, but maybe it will help someone ;-)

If you use the K2 cable to attach the K3 to the computer, it will connect but not charge.

Eh? You sure about this? The Kindle 2 and 3 use a standard Micro USB cable.

Well, my K3 does not charge using the K2 cable, yet in the same port using the K3 cable it does. I also saw something on one of the blogs basically stating the same thing.

My K2 and K3 both charge fine from my computer using an inexpensive 3rd-party retractable USB-Micro-USB cable. I use the same cable for my phone.
