Stoner by John Williams. Halfway through and, so far, it is extremely well written.

Yes it is!
I only read some 50 pages and kinda stopped reading it for the moment. I have so much stuff to do lately that I can't find space to enjoy reading the book at the pace I wish, so I've been reading books in english only.

Here's the cover btw

The last book I got was 'How to Be Alone' (Franzen, Jonathan)

I will go to find it next time I go to the bookshop. It is not available in the library. I checked Wikipedia and found that the author isn't with us any more.

The Owl Service by Alan Garner. A title I recognized from childhood, but that I'd never read somehow. A very good mythic/supernatural tale set in contemporary (well, 1960s) Wales.

Last purchased:

The Human Age: The World Shaped by Us by Diane Ackerman

Pretty good if you have any interest a non-fiction book about the subject matter. She did have a tendency to go off on enthusiastic tangents about projects she was admiring more as works of art than as practical solutions.
