Any interest in Kobo Desktop for Linux?

MobileReaders,
We have an unofficial version of our Desktop software that will run on Debian based Linux distros. We haven't released it officially, but if you would be interested in getting a copy, please send me a PM and I'll try to get you a copy.

Please be sure to include your Distro and CPU architecture - we are currently planning only to release a 32-bit version, but if there is enough interest we might be able to release the 64-bit one as well.

Let us know!

Currently I'm struggling to get Windows on my Aspire One, so if I could just go back to Linux I'd be quite happy.

I have sent a PM as well.

I've been working on getting the windows version of the Kobo software running under wine. It works, but doesn't sync with my ereader at all. You have to install the MS VC++ 2008 runtime in order for Kobo Desktop to start. You can install it using winetricks script.

Adobe Digital Editions also works under wine. There is a standalone installer available here.

I love that the Kobo software is built with the Qt libraries since I also develop with Qt.

Our application is built to be cross-platform, so adding linux isn't much more than a recompile.

The firmware changes are definitely in progress. We see all your comments and they are actively influencing our prioritization.

It's already a success story. A $149 ereader with some small bugs 3 days after launch, and a company who is active on user forums and is listening to its customers. Relax.

I tried the KoboReader at a local Chapters store today. Like it a lot. Congratulations on a job well done. A little jealous though, that I didn't get to work on the guts of it.

I am embedded software developer (Linux/BSD). I am sure it would have been a lot of fun.

Any chance the Kobo eReader could also be made available for Solaris/SPARC? -- I know, I am probably the only one asking, but I figured doing so can't hurt.
