Apple said they would release internationally on March 25th in 25 countries simultaneously. They mentioned the U.K. and Japan, but I don't know about other asian countries. edit: According to one source, these are the countries: Australia Austria Belgium Canada Czech Republic Denmark Finland France Germany Greece Iceland Italy Ireland Hungary Japan Luxemberg Mexico Netherlands New Zealand Poland Portugal Spain Sweden Switzerland UK |

Update:
If you were thinking of getting the iPad 2 just for the cameras-my advice, don't. Seriously, they are pretty substandard quality-video is barely ok, and oddly, Photobooth looks good, but the still quality is just crap. I doubt people would be taking photos with it anyways, but just as a heads-up, overall really disappointing quality. Really grainy. |

Minor update-after using the rear camera extensively to film the new remote controlled helicopters my employees are flying around in the office, I have to say that for video, it actually isn't too bad Stills are still terrible.

Actually, I got the black 32g wireless iPad 1.5.
Which means that I installed iOS 4.3 on my Original iPad, and got most of the software goodness. I'm a firm believer that with Apple, you should upgrade your hardware every other generation. That keeps the software pretty much in sync with the hardware - the main problem I've had with Apple products is that the software outstrips the hardware capability well before the hardware dies. Heck I just gave my brother a pre-intel powerbook running OSx 10.4, & he's happy as a clam (strange cliche...) Computerwise, he's living back in 2005. Meanwhile, I'll sit tight & hope that the next iteration of the iPad is a 7 incher. But even if it's not, it will be lighter & faster, with a stronger battery and a better screen, and will make perfect iWaffles for breakfast, unlike the iPad 2, which is deficient in that important respect. |

Has anyone heard whether Apple stores are continuing to get more stock? Or is the supply pretty much tapped out in preperation for the international launch?

Glenn,
No idea, but interestingly enough, Apple shares keep drooping since earthquake. Did not happen in a while. Analysts say could be because suppliers. |

I am going to buy an ipad, I had a first gen and I traded for a samsung galaxy, for lack of flash, but I am ready to go back. My question is do you really feel the 2 is much better? Apple has refurbished ipad1 for 350 on their site and in stock, the ipad2 is backordered for 4 weeks. is it really worth the wait? I really do not feel I will need the camera, the weight does not bother me.
The only feature I feel might be good would be the newer processor, but still 150 dollars difference and 4 weeks wait? |

Cavi,
I bought the iPad 2 because I had a few weeks old iPad 1 when came out. So I returned it and bought the iPad 2 instead. If I've had the 1st gen. iPad for few months or maybe a year, I've kept it. Now, I like it. It is thinner and feels better when holding but it is not a huge difference in terms of weight. I don't use the cameras too much either. Now, the GT and iPad are different devices. Right now I'm in a Hotel, after attending a Microsoft training writing this to you from my iPad, but using teethering from my GT. I also brought my GT to the training to check emails and use Google maps. If you don't like the GT and want an iPad again, save some bucks and buy and iPad 1. Or ... Wait a few weeks and get the Xoom wifi, which will cost about 500 bucks. I use the iPad 2 for Magazines and PDFs, so don't think I will return or change my Galaxy Tab soon ... |
