Earthquake - Christchurch New Zealand

Please have a quiet thought tonight for the people of Christchurch, New Zealand hit by a devastating earthquake this afternoon. At least 65 people died. It looks like a war zone, an absolute tragedy.

Thinking of you all, kia kaha Christchurch.

I had to finish a book I was reading, and logged in about half an hour ago, checked my email, and there was my news from Denmark... I opened it up, and the front page was about an earthquake in NZ... I quickly went to my normal newspage from Australia... OMG!

My heart goes out to all of you in Christchurch and surrounding areas... I'll be praying for all of you.. Condolences to those who have lost family and friends..

New Zealand is to me very close to Australia, not just in distance, but emotionally (I have family over there, even though I don't know them very well), and I feel, like another disaster has been added to our floods, fires, and cyclones.

I am sooo afraid for the people over there, afraid to read about more deaths...

Please stay safe.

I've been to ChristChurch a couple of times and never thought of it being an an earthquake zone although I suppose anything on the Rim of the Pacific is potentially subject to the sort of thing.

My thoughts and prayers to all our members and families there.

Tragic. The destruction and loss of life is horrendous.

But I'll betcha summat ... our New Zealand pals will show the same true grit in the face of disaster as our friends in Australia so recently did. These are modern countries, but their people are still close to their courageous and pioneering roots.

Kindest thoughts and warmest admiration go out to those we still have the bare-faced cheek to so inaccurately refer to as 'Down Under'. Only last week I turned the world map on my wall upside down. It looks better that way and it reminds me of just where some friends really stand on this wee blue ball of a planet.
