Reading the Web on the Kobo

Guys,

This is what I am doing to read interesting articles I find on the web, on the Kobo in a nice format.

Simple hints:

Simply register to Instapaper.com, go to Extras and drag they bookmarklet to your bookmark bar.
Now browse to a interesting article (hint: The Bygone Bureau: http://bygonebureau.com/), click on the Read Later bookbark button.

Go back to your Instapaper (http://instapaper.com/u) and tag the aritcles you wanna convert and click on the ePub button in the Download section.

Now you've got your article nicely formatted. I use to automatically open it with Calibre so that I can later save it to the Kobo.

Amazing stuff.

That's kind of cool. You can grab a few articles and save them for later reading on the go.

Glad people liked it.
Of course Instapaper.com can be used on so many websites...

Thanks anidel! This is a nice find for me. There are new science/medical articles coming out all the time that I want to read. You can read them in your browser or download the PDF to print/read later. Since the PDF is problematic to read or convert for ereaders, this is a nice way to get readable versions onto my kobo.

Thanks,
-steve-

Indeed..
However Calibre also has a nice feature called News.

Try it! You can leave Calibre running and have it download your favourite news source and prepare a nice looking ePub for you.
They also support Instapaper.com !
So now I simply let Calibre do the job for me

I simply have to save the articles in Instapaper.com and I'll find them ready on the eBook in the evening

And I told Calibre to download other news sites in the morning before I wake up

How cool is that?

Very cool! Thank you anidel, I was about to ask this question to the forum.

It's a few days until my Kobo Touch arrives and one thing I really want this device for is all those occasions where I get to an in-depth article via twitter, google plus (never facebook for some reason...). I knew the iReader plugin for Google Chrome could efficiently format web pages for a nice reading layout and your solution sounds as close to the "drag and drop" concept I dream of Thanks again.

Alternative to instapaper

Hi,

I also noticed this browser bookmark/extension/plugin called "dotEPUB", which lets you download an ePub version of the website in one click:
http://dotepub.com/

One less click! Now... will calibre "monitor" my download folder for epubs and wirelessly sync it to Kobo?
