Exclamation Free (Kindle KDP) Moondeath by R. Hautala & Cameron's Closet by G. Brandner [Horror]

Today (actually it started yesterday, but it was late and I was too tired to put up a post because this is exam cram week and all) we have a nifty double feature backlist reprint duo for the horror fans, courtesy of Evil Jester Press, who are also offering some newer freebies.

Also, there's a few hours left in the day to grab Jerry Sohl's (ISFDB entry) 1983 Fawcett-printed sci-fi novel Death Sleep, being offered free with coupon code in DRM-free ePub & Mobi direct from re-publisher ReAnimus, whose editor Andrew Burt is a fellow MR member editor who is offering it through the end of today, June 20th (still working when I tried it a couple of minutes ago). There's also a survey you can fill out to help them decide what to reprint next.

Moondeath by Rick Hautala (ISFDB entry, Wikipedia), who's been previously title-featured for his PS Publishing collection, was originally published by Kensington/Zebra in 1983.

This is some kind of small-town what's-behind-the-mysterious-happenings horror thriller, as far as I can tell from the paperback reviews (the e-book description is singularly unhelpful in that regard; their marketing-advice-giver should be fired).

Free for who knows how long with DRM @ Amazon main UK DE ES FR IT

Description (seriously, can you tell from this what the hell is this book actually about?)
"One of the best horror novels I've read in the last two years!" - Stephen King (1980) "Rick Hautala's writing shines with dedication, hard earned craft, and devotion" - Peter Straub For the first time in more than twenty years, New York Times Bestselling novelist Rick Hautala's first novel is back in print! With cover art by the legendary Glenn Chadbourne and an all new introduction from bestselling author Christopher Golden, the Evil Jester Press edition of MOONDEATH is a must have for every horror fan.

Cameron's Closet by Gary Brandner (ISFDB entry, Wikipedia) was originally published by Fawcett in 1987 and picked up for the UK market in 1988 by Severn House under the title Cameron's Terror.

This is apparently a mystery/horror detective vs supernatural serial killer thriller and has a much better blurb which actually describes the actual book, and is a special 25th Anniversary edition with a foreword by Joe McKinney (ISFDB, Wikipedia).

Free with DRM for who knows how much longer @ Amazon main UK DE ES FR IT

Description
Cameron and his mother deal with their tragic past in different ways—she with alcohol, he with an imaginary friend. But that imaginary friend has become so much more—a deadly, hard-to-contain force, its primary objective no longer the protection of Cameron. An LAPD detective—struggling to solve a string of grisly killings—and a psychologist—trying to understand Cameron—work together to uncover the connection. But can they stop such an elusive, impossible evil? Or will it rip them to shreds?

A clever blend of supernatural terror and police procedural, Cameron’s Closet is ready to thrill a new generation of readers. This 25th Anniversary Edition from Evil Jester Press features cover art from Alex Mcvey and a new introduction by Bram Stoker Award winner Joe McKinney. Don’t miss it!

Evil Jester Press are also offering three other freebie titles (some repeat), which you may want to look at: Linkage for the lot @ Amazon main UK DE ES FR IT

More slushpile stuff from the previous few days which is still free and a very quick and superficial dip into today's things (I just woke up and want something to eat and for you to get a chance to grab the Jerry Sohl book if you didn't already get it from the Author Self-Promo forum earlier this week).

Sandi Gelles-Cole's contemporary business romance set at a big oil company was originally published by Dell in 1984 in their Candlelight Ecstasy Supreme line: Secrets and Desire She is also offering through her self-named imprint some short stories and works by other writers who say they have minor newspaper and magazine/anthology credentials: Linkage for the lot

Simon & Schuster-published comedy satirist Adam Bertocci returns with a humourous YA short story: Kiss Me, I'm Iris

Harlequin Intrigue-published Mallory Kane offers 4 romantic suspenses: Linkage for the lot

Small-pressed Australian history writer Hugh V. Clarke returns with a self-explanatory book which incorporates both Japanese and Australian viewpoints of the event: To Sydney by Stealth - Midget Subs Attack Sydney, 1942

Signet-published YA fantasy writer Barbara Bartholomew returns with an apparently grown-up tale: The House Near the River: A Time Travel Romance

Christian Fiction writer Robert Elmer returns with a 1994 Bethany House YA historical adventure novel set in Denmark during WWII which seems to be part of a series for which we received other volumes earlier: Beyond the River (Young Underground) and a Palestine-set YA adventure/mystery also out from Bethany House in 2000: Peace Rebel (Promise of Zion)

ISFDBed Darkover anthology contributor Joan Marie Verba contributes to this collaboratively-written sci-fi maybe-invasion novel originally out from small press Stone Dragon Press in 2000: Autumn World

Australian writer Ian Moffitt offers his 1985 Henry & Holt published post-war-trauma China-set revenge thriller: The Retreat of Radiance

HarperCollins-published CWA Dagger Award-winner Matt Rees return with an historical mystery/crime short: Lazarus's Brush: a short story of Caravaggio in Sicily

Former Read an Ebook Week participant Xcite Books has added at least one new freebie to their line-up of erotic romance & erotica offerings: Linkage for the lot

Romance readers should check the June romance freebie/bargains thread for more KDP and price-matched to iTunes/Smashwords finds and mystery lovers should check Fbone's June 20th thread for stuff by Hodder Headline-published historical novelist Harriet Smart.

Happy reading, if you manage to spot something you think you might like and it's still free by the time you see it.

One more if you think you can catch it before the end of the day when Amazon rotates these (around 12:30 AM PST, usually).

The late William C. Anderson wrote a number of things out from Bantam, Crown, and other publishers, including several novels that were turned into Hollywood movies. Whoever's currently handling his estate returns to offer a true crime about the US' first female serial killer, originally out from small press Fred Pruett in 1994, which from experience, will probably be offered for just one day only (today, in which there's less than an hour left): Lady Bluebeard

Also, MuseItUp Publishing, which I suspect to be some sort of division of Books We Love/BWLPP offers a new mystery/thriller freebie, alongside a romance repeat.
