Tricks to using eBook Upload listings??
The number of books in the eBook Uploads here on mobileread is daunting.
Is there some kind review(s) or recommendation(s) available? Or does a reader have to peruse the whole lists and try to spot something of interest? In other words, how can a reader separate the wheat from the chaff (so to speak)? Thanks! |

Pete,
Don't know if this helps you, but it helped me -- filter by genre. that pares it down quite a bit in some cases. Now it doesn't help with the "will I like author A" question, but if you see several listings from "A", somebody liked them enough to convert multiple listings from them. beyond that, you'll have to get specific recommendations. Now if you like/dislike a book in the Uploads, you might want to post a brief recommendation on the site. it's probably better on-topic in the "reading recommendations", but I haven't seen any moratorium on attaching it to the upload thread. It seems to me to be more useful there, but others may disagree. Dan <>< |

Also, you can search the ebook upload section. The search option is on the right-hand side of the blue bar on the upload page. I'm afraid that the search function is not brilliant (but improvements are in the pipeline). I've always forund it best to search by author's surname, or by a key word from the title - it's better to have too much than to miss someting, in my opinion.
You can also click on other items on the blue bar, to sort by genre, uploader, etc. Also, in the main forum search (on the blue bar towards the top of every page) you can do a tag search for, say "murder" if you're after a crime novel. (However, some uploaders have not been using tags very much, so this won't get all the murder mysteries.) |
