Adding Namespace to Stylesheet

I've noticed that Calibre adds an "@namespace" line into the CSS when I convert any books to epub, I never add this line to any of the epub's I manually create though.

This doesn't seem to effect the epub when I read the book on any of my reading systems. So can someone tell me what this line is all about and if I should add it to my epubs or not because as far as I can see, It doesn't do anything.
