More details: ABOUT IBIS READER Ibis Reader™ is the ebook reader for your smartphone, netbook, or computer that focuses on helping you find the best books and then getting out of your way. Ibis Reader gives every book lover the chance to experience the joy of digital reading. Whether you read on a computer or an iPhone (or both) your ePub books are always available and always in sync. Ibis Reader is being developed by Liza Daly and Keith Fahlgren of Threepress Consulting Inc. Features Read on a computer, laptop, or smartphone No need to download or install software Let Ibis remember where you stopped so you don’t have to Store your library online but access it anywhere, anytime Find new things to read and add them to your library without leaving Ibis Download all your books at any time How does it work? How do I get started? What do I have to download? A great feature of Ibis Reader is that there is nothing to download! Here’s how it works: Get started with Ibis Reader by finding an interesting book in Get Books. Click on one of the book sources to see the titles available, then click on the cover of a book to see more information. Once you’ve found an interesting book, click Read This Book to add it to your library and start reading. Because your ebooks are stored in the cloud, you can read them from any web browser and many mobile phones, anywhere in the world. When used with an iPhone and Android 2 phone, you can even read when you aren’t connected to the internet. What is ePub? ePub is the open ebook standard developed by the International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF). It is based on a number of other open standards including XHTML and CSS, just like the web. This means that your web browser is well equipped to display ePub books. Can I use Ibis Reader on my mobile device? Absolutely! The web version of Ibis Reader has been optimized for both full-size computers and mobile devices. Readers with iPhones or Android phones can read ebooks even when not connected to the internet. I’m a publisher and I have questions or feature requests Threepress is a publisher-serving corporation with many years of experience in building products in the industry. We would be happy to discuss the ePub format, getting your books into ePub, and even extending Ibis Reader with custom features for your publications. Please contact info@ibisreader.com. |

Oh... I was hoping Ibis Reader was going to be an offline reader. But what is the difference with bookworm?

Ibis Reader does have an installable app with offline reading for iPhones, iPod Touches, and Android 2.0 devices. Just visit http://ibisreader.com and click "tap here for mobile app" link near the top.

Some browsers (most notably Safari) do offer the HTML5 database support that is required for offline access, but it's very new technology and hasn't been implemented widely outside of mobile devices.
As Google is very interested in provoding offline access for Editions and has publicly stated their support of these HTML5, we fully expect more support from browsers soon. At that point, we'll be more able to provide offline access for "regular" computers. |
