I've had this as a pbook in my TBR pile for a few years, but I never seem to read anything as a pbook anymore, now maybe I'll get it read.

I know what you mean. I'm pushing thru a pbook right now (only one in a series not an ebook; want to finish in order and got tired of waiting for it ...), but my paper stack keeps growing (seems all some places want to give away), especially the hardbacks. I need to go back to forcing myself to start one paper copy at least every 2 or 3 books.

I read this series as it came out, and liked it pretty well. I'm pretty jaded as far as fantasy novels go, so whenever I find something new (that doesn't include elven princesses or dark elves or orcs) I'm excited.

This one qualifies. I think it gets a little weaker as the series goes on. OTOH, the 4 books of the series are written, and they're all available as ebooks, so you can burn right through them. Figuratively, of course.
