As for shipping, Pocketbook France ships to the US. Of course, this is also the site that took my money, lied to me about shipping, and then ignored me, forcing me to yell to Pocketbook corporate. So buyer beware.

Thanks for that. If I choose this device I might have to get it from somewhere else. I have family in the states but would much prefer to cut out the middle man and get it sent to Australia.

Just to make sure; the inkpad has a headphone jack but does not have speakers? Also, does it have it's own bookstore, or any others you can use?

My point was that if they'll ship to the US they will probably ship everywhere. At the very least you should check the website rather than assume they won't ship to AUS.

Yes headphone, no speakers, and I haven't tried the ebookstore which is included.

Any of you guys has a photo of the H2O/InkPad next to a real book? It'd be nice to have some benchmark.

If there is an eBook open on the screens of the H2O & InkPad, then you have real books showing.

What I meant was rather the size of the readers, compared to a standard paper book, like 12x19 cm. I know the size of the devices, but a photo is better than a thousand words.

Yes, I know what you meant, but it's how you said it. An eBook is a real book.

Obviously the InkPad would be a bigger book. I am asking because they both cost a lot of money (compared to most of 6" devices) and do not want to regret the purchase when I open the box, I mean in terms of sceen size.

Too bad they are not in my local stores!

EDIT: It took some time, but I measured the possible screen size, and in theory it should be (+/- 5 mm):

Kobo - height 137 mm, width 103 mm
Pocketbook - height 163 mm, width 122 mm

That's quite a difference!

You also need to consider weight, since you generally use an ereader one-handed rather than the normal two-handed way you would read a book.

I find the H2O rather heavy since switching from a Sony PRS-T1. I really wouldn't want something heavier. My wrists would start to hurt after awhile.

You have to make a trade-off between big screen and too heavy to read on.

The Inkpad weights 350g or 12.35oz.
The H2O weights 233g or 8.22oz

Obviously a cover is going to add to the weight.

Does anybody know how good the dictionaries are for the Inkpad? Comparable to kindle or Kobo?

They use ABBYY Lingvo dictionaries. You can check these yourself at: http://www.lingvo-online.ru/en It won't give you the definition but will tell you if the word is in the dictionary. I believe these are pretty complete.
