I am going to compare my reader with two leading readers
Would owners of a Sony ereader, any model and owners of a Kindle, again any model tell me the following metrics. I am going to use the results to compare with my reader for both personal edification and to post the results:
1) What is your boot rate (the amount of time it takes from when you push the power button, from off, until the unit displays something)? 2) Recycle rate (when you have the unit on and you push the power button to turn it off then hit the power button back on again, how long does it take your unit to shut down then boot)? 3) Menu selection rate (when you select a menu option how long does it take before your unit obeys)? 4) Book display rate (from the time you select which book to read, how long does it take before your reader displays the book)? |

I think item 3 in particular will vary widely even amongst the same device, as it matter how many items are in that unit. On my PB302, the time to display a list of books (files) in a directory (collection) is directly related to the number of files in that directory.

For the Kindle 3:
1) From sleep mode (I'm not turning it fully off just to answer this), 2 seconds. 2) I'm not turning it off, but it's 1 second to go into sleep mode, and another 2 to wake up again. 3) It depends on what you do. It takes about a second to go to home. A second to turn on the mp3 player. About 2 1/2 for the text to speech thing to start 4) Depending on the book, 1-2 seconds. Seems to be 1 on books you've started reading, 2 for ones you haven't. |
