ConnectBot and the Kindle Fire

I don't know if any of you all are also like me but I need to ssh often and use ConnectBot a lot on my phone. I was excited at the prospect of using the fire's screen instead of my little phone's screen. The project is open source and have apk's from their website so it was easy to sideload. The problem is that the kindle's software keyboard does not default to having any sort of enter key in apps. There's a simple change or two that need to be made in the program itself to make it work correctly.
