[QUOTE=But to add some new fuel my first recommendation would actually be the inheritance cycle that was the first fantasy series I read all the way[/QUOTE]

I agree - most reviews seem to pan it, but I loved it and would definitely recommend giving it a try.

The main critiques of the Inheritance cycle are that it's hopelessly derivative. If it's the first fantasy series you've read, I've no doubt it will seem quite original to you! More power to you. Enjoy your next read.

His thriller and spy novels are consistently good (to me).
I have been a fan of EVL for a long time, although at times his thrillers descend into soft-core porn. Not that there's anything wrong with that - just be aware there's a good bit of pretty graphic sex.

I love the Sunset Warrior trilogy, but I agree that it starts much better than it finishes. I recently read The Wool Omnibus, and was immediately struck by similarities between the silo and the Freehold.

How about Stephen Donaldson's first Chronicles of Thomas Covenant (Lord Foul's Bane, The Illearth War, and The Power That Preserves)? The main character is an unmitigated ass, and you will spend a good portion of the series hating him, but darn good in spite of that.

I may be insane but I like series that go on and on as well or better than a trilogy

I've enjoyed most of those mentioned, so far. One I haven't seen here is Jim Butcher's "Codex Alera" It starts with "Furies Of Calderon", not a trilogy, but you could think of it as two if you are truly committed to the idea of three books.

Both Lackey and Norton have been mentioned, they collaborated on the "Halfblood Chronicles" which is at this point a trilogy and likely to remain one, with Norton gone.

Luck;
Ken
