Can we have a from this point on direction and then we can have both so everyone will be happy?

Is it possible to search/replace among all the XML flows? If not, can that be added like it is in Notepad++?

JSWolf has a good point. It seems that we are busy reinventing the wheel. Why go to all the effort of building a nerw code editor when there are several out there which are public domain and/or free and have full PCRE and other capabilities.

Must the editor provided in QT be used? Am I missing something?

No because then we have calibre.

You can do search and replace in every editable file (not images). You can do a search and replace across all (X)HTML files. This is deliberate so you don't do a replace all across all files and accidentally destroy the OPF.

It must be in Qt and cross platform. A lot of the editors out there have their own failings. No single one is perfect. Also, the amount of time to integrate it must be less than the time it would take to write the features from scratch. Oh, and adding features must be just as easy as working within an editor specific to Sigil (adding spell check for instance).
