Help with Calibre
Hi There.....
Looking for assistance/tips regarding e-book conversion: - running Calibre 0.7.23 on MacBook Pro; device > iPad + iBooks - attempted to convert a number of pdf's to epub format ( preferences set accordingly > input=pdf, output=epub; device=iPad - while some pdf books/articles were converted right, others : > lost images > a 250 pages book became over 1000 pages > table of content displayed one page per item > footer/header scrambled with text > forcing table of contents generates lots of pages, one line per page > maths formulas converted to text, one character per line To cut it short : - how to tell which pdf can or cannot be converted to epub? - what preferences setting to use for input=pdf, output=epub for iBooks , iPad, MacBook Pro running OS 10.5.8? Many thanks |

Welcome to mobileread .... You may have discovered one of the reasons why PDFs are poor source files for ebooks - the conversion processes can't figure out what to do with the images in PDFs. The Calibre site states .... Quote:

There is no way to tell how well a pdf will convert, other than converting it
As for preferences, the only really important one is the line unwrapping factor under PDF Input |

Hi Bocha,
I have a similar situation trying to make my own book files convertible to as many ereader formats as possible; also working on a MacBook Pro. You might find some of the posts on the thread I started helpful. https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...07#post1164807 I'm still sorting out the information myself. As I find out more I'll redirect you to the above or reply again here. Please let me know what you figure out, too. Good luck! |
